Tendonitis is the inflammation of the tendon or it’s covering after an injury. Tendonitis, unlike many other soft tissue injuries which are caused by a single instance, is often caused by many small irritations or aggregations to the tendon which results in pain, swelling and redness. Athletes are the most prone to tendonitis due to the repetitive movements, but it has been seen in many workers’ compensation and personal injury claims. In extreme situations where there is an extended period of irritation to the tendon, surgical intervention may be needed.
